Why don’t you have set hours?
Rather than have set hours as my customers have multiple commitments, I reflect their availability. Some need a morning weekday appointment, some can only come on Sundays, some are evenings only. So when a customer reaches out, the first question is; What type of appointment do you need? Do you need days, evenings or weekends? Depending on that answer, I then offer appointments within a cluster that I already have established but 30 minutes apart. My work hours reflect the needs of the customers that day.
Why do you prefer texting?
Texting is much quicker, I don’t have to make numerous calls attempting to speak to the customer or keep track of convenient times to call. It also provides a history of our conversation so if I have questions while working, I can simply look at our history. I can also respond at late or early hours. There are so many texts coming in, turning them into phone calls would mean hiring a secretary.
What is a fitting?
A fitting is for me to assess the progress of the work. I have dress forms that I can use, but sometimes, to assure the very best fit, I need you here to try on the dress. If the work you need done is complicated and we have very little fabric available for adjustments, I may need a couple of fittings. These appointments are typically very quick.
What forms of Payment do you take?
I prefer cash but also accept Venmo and personal check.
Can I stop in without an appointment?
You are very welcome to give it a try. But be aware that I may be unavailable and occupied with a scheduled appointment or there may be four other people who decided to spontaneously stop in. Or, I may be closed if that day’s customers are all booked for the evening, therefore I’m working a late shift. So are you welcome you stop in? Sure! And if I am free and available, I am happy to help. And if the work is simple, I may even be able to do it while you wait. But to best guarantee the help you need and the attention you deserve, texting for an appointment works the best.
